The third meeting of the Programme Coordination Committee (PCC) for SIP-II was held on May 10th and it approved the annual progress report for FY 2078-79, yearly plan of operations for FY 2080-81 and the provisional annual progress report for FY 2079-80.
The meeting was chaired by Honorable Minister Til Kumar Menyangbo Limbu, Ministry of Water Supply, Irrigation and Energy, Koshi Province and vice-chaired by Her Excellency Ambassador Elisabeth von Capeller, Embassy of Switzerland.
During the meeting, Her Excellency Ambassador Elisabeth von Capeller congratulated the Koshi Province and all the LGs for the progress made by SIP. She added that Koshi Province is a champion in the federalization of the irrigation sector with more and more LGs endorsing the small irrigation guideline. She recommended to take this opportunity to share this success with other Provinces which can lead to the replication of the guideline in other Provinces.
The Honorable Minister Til Kumar Menyangbo Limbu remarked that focus of irrigated agriculture is still traditional in Nepal and there is a need to shift the focus on changing the cropping pattern as cash crops are much more profitable for farmers as well as to increase the economy of the country. He thanked the Government of Switzerland for their continued support in Koshi Province.
